Caribbean weather spot on WSEE
Reversing a long, unhappy trend of late, a new, English-language major network affiliate has become available on Ku band. It’s WSEE, the CBS station in Erie PA, and what we’re seeing on AMC 21 is the Caribbean version of it. (A tip of the hat to P.T., who sent me an email about it.)
So why is there this Pennsylvania station with Caribbean weather and news inserts? According to Wikipedia: “WSEE-TV has been part of the Primetime 24 lineup since November 1997 … The Primetime 24 service provides American network television service to C-Band and some cable viewers in Latin America, the Caribbean, and in rural parts of the United States where local signals are not available.”
As always, there’s no way to tell how long this channel will remain available in the clear on Ku band. But if it lasts till Sunday, then a little bit of pro football will have returned to FTA. Woo hoo! And if anybody else spots any other fun channels, drop me an email or leave a comment with it. Thanks for all your help!

hey, glad to see you’re back into the blog thing. I finally got my dish set up in its new location only to find my favorite channels gone. I hope you continue to bring us info on all the latest changes in FTA.

I think F.T.A. is done , As there is nothing much to see in the clear any more . If things don’t get better soon I will be geting rid of the dish & stuff & I suspect most people will do the same . It was good while it lasted , but not likely to be that good again . Also anyone know what is going on with White Springs ? as that is now gone too .

Can someone recommend some company or private in New Hampshire, 03576, that can help to install F.T.A. television? (install dish, connect and adjust satellite receiver)

Looks like the good new channel is gone, but there is some good FTA on C-band. Sadly for me that will have to wait until spring when I get a chance to put up a big dish. It’s too bad that cbs and fox aren’t around on G10r any more, but that is the nature of FTA.
White Springs is just broadcasting on the web right now. their web site says that they are looking for a new transponder, but I’m not holding my breath.

I am really enjoying the Glorystar system, and hopefully in the near future will be adding amc9 (rtv) to my network…. With these satellites going along with maybe a little from g10…and my Starchoice system, I will be like King of the Hill in my area…. Yep, there is a lot to watch if the time is taken to search the skies… Trust me, I’ve been at it for a couple of years so far…

While some channels are gone, the great thing about real free to view or FTA satellite channels is that there are always more and more to watch on both the C & Ku bands. It is dynamic and so is the FTA satellite TV hobby.
Cheers and a great blog.

There is plenty out there. AMC 21 has PBS hi Def programming as well as 480i channels. AMC 4 has History channel, BIO channel and now Setanta sports clear. Galaxy 19 has, in addition to a few interesting english language programs, added fashion television in Hi Definition. Also Echostar 119 is broadcasting ION television (good movies occasionally) in the clear along with the NASA channel.

Howdy-all… I just came from ABA.COM, and they had a report regarding amc9 (RTV) channels… It appears that the “Q” is steadly getting a lot better on these two transponders… Some report that their “Q” jumped from 60% to around 70-80%.. Guess I’m going to have to go out and work in the snow-bank, maybe I’ll get lucky ha ha… I’ve been after those channels for a long time… Who knows, maybe this is my Santa Gift…
